49ers-Panthers Injury Report: Joe Staley practices again; Marquise Goodwin doesn’t

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 8 contest against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Tackle Joe Staley practiced for the second consecutive day as he attempts to return from the fractured fibula he suffered during Week 2.


Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin didn't practice on Wednesday. The reason, which wasn't disclosed, wasn't injury-related, though.

Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Panthers, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.

Joe Staley revealed to ESPN last month that he had lost 50 pounds since retiring. The former San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman recently shared the following photo of his new self on Instagram (h/t to Grant Cohn for the find). A slimmer @jstaley74 is enjoying life after football. It's always good to see the #49ers icon.

PFF ranks 49ers running backs No. 19 in the NFL

Pro Football Focus continues its position-by-position rankings and has turned its attention to the running backs. Where did the San Francisco 49ers' No. 2 ranked rushing attack from last season place on the list? Analyst Steve Palazzolo has the unit ranked No. 19 in the NFL.
