Michael Spencer of CBS in Denver caught up with new San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders as he left the Broncos facility after learning he had been traded.

"It's hard. Any time you break up, you leave a place, its tough," Sanders said. "We definitely had a great run out here in Denver. I had a lot of great times, but obviously, all good things come to an end. I'm looking forward to get out to San Fran and showcasing my talent and meeting the guys. Hopefully, add my explosiveness, my capabilities to their system, and really try to win."

The 49ers sent third- and fourth-round picks in next year's draft to the Broncos in exchange for Sanders and a fifth-round pick.

Sanders was asked if San Francisco seems like an ideal landing spot for him.

"Yeah," he responded. "We kind of run a similar offense, and just talking to Rich (Scangarello), he was pretty much just telling me that it's the same offense, different concepts, but I'll be able to pick it up easy. So waiting on them to call me right now, and we'll see when I'm going to get out there and get my physical and get acclimated with the system."

H/t to Patrick Tulini for the find.

Maliek Collins on joining 49ers, playing for Kris Kocurek, replacing Arik Armstead

By David Bonilla
Mar 14

Today, the San Francisco 49ers officially announced the acquisition of Houston Texans defensive tackle Maliek Collins. Shortly after the announcement, the team made their new defensive lineman available to reporters via Zoom. One thing was evident: Collins has been eager to play under defensive line coach Kris Kocurek for a considerable time. The two met at the NFL Scouting Combine in 2016, and those conversations in Indianapolis made Collins a fan of Kocurek. When asked to explain what excites him about Kocurek, Collins responded, "It was just his passion that he brings to the game, how he's all about getting a dub, and he wants to [have] the most productive defensive line, and he wants to be number one in everything. That's something that I want to come in, I

By David Bonilla
Mar 17

Who knows what might have unfolded had starting safety Talanoa Hufanga not sustained a season-ending ACL injury on November 19, 2023? Could his presence for the remainder of the season have provided the slight edge the defense needed to halt the late-game surge by the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 58? Would it have made a difference? Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle recently reported that the 49ers might be eyeing a big-name safety like Justin Simmons, a four-time second-team All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowl selection, who remains available in what Silver referred to as an "oversaturated" safety market. However, it's

Did the 49ers get better in the first week of free agency?

By Marc Adams
Mar 16

It's been less than one week since the free agency rumors started swirling. The San Francisco 49ers have been busy, from restructuring contracts to seeing some of their own sign elsewhere to bringing aboard new players. They even pulled off a trade. But have they improved their roster this first week of NFL free agency? Let's take a look at which additions and returning players help, and which losses hurt. Additions that help The addition that helped the most is likely edge rusher Leonard Floyd. The veteran pass rusher played in all 17 games last season and hasn't missed a game since 2017. The 49ers have been searching for that edge rusher opposite of Nick Bosa since Dee Ford. Floyd very well could be that guy, finishing with at least nine sacks

Rumor: Ravens reached out to 49ers about Deebo Samuel trade

By David Bonilla
Mar 13

Rumor has it that the Baltimore Ravens have inquired about the availability of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Jason La Canfora of 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore shared on his radio show that the Ravens reached out to the 49ers, but as of now, the Bay Area team seems to have no interest in engaging in trade discussions. La Canfora reposted a social media post, which you can view below. With @Ravens creating cap room, some of it could be earmarked for a WR. We heard they reached out to SF about Deebo availability (that's a no,
