NFC West News: Rams trade CB Marcus Peters to the Ravens

Oct 15, 2019 at 1:43 PM--

Cornerback Marcus Peters' time with the Los Angeles Rams is over. A day after placing cornerback Aqib Talib on injured reserve, the Rams have sent Peters to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for linebacker Kenny Young and an undisclosed 2020 draft pick, according to NFL Network.

Peters played on Sunday in Los Angeles' 20-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and racked up four tackles, a pass defensed, and even hauled in a Jimmy Garoppolo-thrown pass.

The 49ers will next play the now Peters-less Rams the weekend of December 21 (date and time TBA). They also face the Ravens on Sunday, December 1, as part of a two-game road trip (New Orleans Saints on December 8).

Peters was in the final year of his contract, and as Ian Rapoport noted on NFL Network, the Ravens were interested in Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey. With nothing moving forward on that front, they decided to pursue Peters instead.

The Rams initially traded a 2018 fourth-round draft pick and a 2019 second-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for Peters and a 2018 sixth-round pick.

49ers considered playing Trent Williams at guard during potential trade last year

The San Francisco 49ers found themselves in what they perceived as a tough situation last season. The team lost both starting offensive tackles to injuries. Naturally, knowing that the roster was capable of something special, general manager John Lynch started to look into his options. Disgruntled Washington tackle Trent Williams was one of those options. "We had made a call about it in the last season when Joe (Staley) and (Mike) McGlinchey were hurt, thinking, wow, this could be an option," Lynch told Greg Papa during the 49ers' virtual State of the Franchise event this week. "When those guys come back, maybe we play him at guard." The trade, obviously, didn't happen during the season. It did happen, however, during the third day of this year's

ESPN identifies 49ers-Texans trade that would be a win-win for both teams

Jun 25, 2020

ESPN's Field Yates named five win-win NFL trades on Thursday morning, all while noting that such deals are unlikely. NFL trades, in general, are rare compared to other leagues, but the ESPN insider went ahead with the task anyway. The San Francisco 49ers were involved in one of the hypothetical trades, and it involved shipping off the team's second-round pick from 2018 — wide receiver Dante Pettis. Who would the Niners get in return? The Houston Texans' fourth-round selection from the same year, wide receiver Keke Coutee. "Coutee -- taken in the 2018 draft, like Pettis -- provides San
