The San Francisco 49ers kicked off their final practice before their preseason finale — a Thursday matchup at Levi's Stadium against the Los Angeles Chargers. The team will hold a walkthrough on Wednesday, which is closed to the media.
Running back Jerick McKinnon was in uniform for the start of Tuesday's practice after missing Monday's session. He was seen taking part in individual drills. McKinnon received platelet-rich plasma injections earlier this month as a result of some knee soreness. He is attempting to return from a torn ACL suffered on September 1, 2018.
Dante Pettis was, for the second day in a row, seen on a side field stretching and did not participate. The second-year receiver has been the topic of much discussion this week after head coach Kyle Shanahan indicated his role on the team was still being evaluated.
"He's still trying to earn a role on this team," Shanahan told reporters via a conference call on Sunday, "and he's still trying to show us what he's capable of doing consistently."
Returned to practice:
RB Jerick McKinnon (knee)
RB Raheem Mostert (quad)
Did not practice:
DE Nick Bosa (ankle)
WR Jalen Hurd (back)
WR Dante Pettis (groin)
DL Kentavius Street (knee)
WR Trent Taylor (foot)
CB Jason Verrett (ankle)
CB K'Waun Williams (knee)
