Breaking: George Kittle, John Lynch issue statements after tight end officially signs contract extension with 49ers

Mike McGlinchey mic’d up during practice and Joe Staley’s daughter says the Seahawks are ‘toots’

49ers Studios, the San Francisco 49ers' in-house production studio, quickly pushed out a mic'd up video from Saturday's practice, the first of training camp. It features second-year tackle Mike McGlinchey welcoming his quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, back to the offensive huddle, and on-field hair discussion with tight end George Kittle.

Maybe the best line from the video was guard Mike Person saying, "Mike has a mic, talking to Mike, and Mike is telling about Mike's mic."

"It's Inception," responds McGlinchey.

Tackle Joe Staley, who is entering season number 13 with the 49ers, had his daughters on hand to watch practice. Here is a photo of the three of them observing from a sideline.

As if that wasn't precious enough, Staley showed Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee this homemade sign his five-year-old daughter, Grace, made. It gives props to her father's team, not so much to their Bay Area (for now) rival, and bashes the division rival Seattle Seahawks.

No word on where the disdain for the Denver Broncos comes from. Maybe don't tell general manager John Lynch about that. Or head coach Kyle Shanahan, whose father, Mike, was on hand for practice.

The San Francisco 49ers are an obsessed team. They are obsessed with getting back onto the football field after February's heartbreaking Super Bowl collapse and focused on returning to and winning the big game. Head coach Kyle Shanahan used that word — obsessed — on Thursday morning while describing his team's mentality as it prepares for its first practices of training camp. Until this point, it has just been holding walk-throughs, and the players are eager to push forward. It sounds like September 13 cannot get here soon enough. Offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey joined KNBR on Thursday and was asked about Shanahan's choice of wording, and if "obsessed" accurately describes the mentality of this football team. "Yeah, because

George Kittle finally got paid and secured his long-term future with the San Francisco 49ers. His teammates could not be happier to have football's best tight end locked up for years to come. That includes offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey, who joined KNBR on Thursday night and discussed Kittle's massive five-year contract extension. "Every single person in this locker room is ecstatic for him," McGlinchey told Mark Willard. "I don't know that I've ever been around a teammate or a player that's more deserving of something like this than George. The way that he works, the person that he is, the leader that he is, and the energy that he brings to our team every single

Proving one's versatility will be essential for any player looking to earn a roster spot with the San Francisco 49ers this season. It always has been. You never know when one or two injuries will force an offensive tackle to move inside or a tight end to play fullback. That requirement is heightened across the league this year because no one knows what impact COVID-19 will have on a roster or the NFL as a whole. What if the virus knocks out half of your starting offensive line before a game? "Versatility is going to be absolutely huge," offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey told reporters on Monday via a video conference call. "It's going to make or break guys having jobs, and make or break situations to fill our roster because we can get into any situation at any
