The San Francisco 49ers are showing their support for the United States women's national soccer team, which meets the Netherlands on Sunday in the Women's World Cup final in France. It reaches the finals of the Women's World Cup for a third straight time.

The 49ers gifted personalized jerseys for Abby Dahlkemper and Tierna Davidson. Both are from Menlo Park, California, which is just south of San Francisco. Davidson was born there and played three years for the Stanford Cardinal while Dahlkemper grew up in Menlo Park and remained in California during her college playing years at UCLA.

The two former Bay Area residents also received some kind words from the 49ers general manager, John Lynch.

While there are several success stories of rookies flourishing immediately in the NFL, there are certain players, especially quarterbacks, whose learning curves require some more seasoning. Take Peyton Manning, who threw for 28 interceptions in his rookie year before becoming one of the best quarterbacks of all time, as an example. Earlier this week, PFF named ten players from the 2021 NFL Draft class that are under the most pressure to perform in Year 2, and unsurprisingly, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance was amongst the group. That delayed things, which reduced the 49ers' options. As Garoppolo recovered, the list of quarterback-needy teams shrunk. 49ers general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan have tried to convince everyone that they are willing, if necessary, to hold onto Garoppolo in 2022 if a suitable offer doesn't present itself. That certainly isn't Plan A, though. Instead, once the quarterback is healthy, they hope to try to
