The San Francisco 49ers will host a pre-draft visit with former Mississippi State edge defender Montez Sweat, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

NFL teams are permitted to host up to 30 pre-draft visits at their team facilities. The visiting players, however, are not allowed to work out for the team unless they are local prospects, who do not count toward the 30-player limit.

Sweat took part in the Senior Bowl in January and was part of the South squad, which was coached by 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and his staff.

Sweat had back-to-back double-digit sack totals with the Bulldogs over the past two seasons, including a 12-sack campaign during his senior year in 2018.

The 6-foot-6 and 260-pound prospect impressed at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. Sweat had a 40-time of 4.41 seconds, a vertical jump of 36 inches, a broad jump of 125 inches, completed the three-cone drill in 7 seconds, 21 reps in the bench press, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.29 seconds.

Sweat's 4.41 40-time at the Combine was the fastest among defensive linemen and linebackers this year. Other measurables include an arm length of 35 3/4 inches and hands that measure 10 1/2 inches.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, who compares Sweat to Danielle Hunter, wrote the following about Sweat within his scouting report:

"Some will see Sweat as a leggy edge prospect with average play strength and a lack of refinement in his pass rush. I see a talent, similar to Danielle Hunter out of LSU, with above-average length and a prospect who should continue to grow into his frame, allowing him to unleash his rush flashes into a consistent attack. His transition as an NFL rusher will take some time, but like Hunter, he should come out on the other side as a good, impact starter as an every-down edge defender."

Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Network wrote the following about Sweat within his scouting report:

"Montez Sweat projects favorably as a base 4-3 defensive end at the NFL level. Sweat illustrates textbook extension in his attack of blocks and his separation skills enable to him win at the line of scrimmage with consistency. Sweat's lack of mobility through the hips will restrict him as a space defender, he needs to play with his hand in the dirt at all times to make the most of his linear explosiveness and skills stacking blockers."
