The San Francisco 49ers were among a handful of teams to make the trip to Canada to watch offensive lineman Maurice Simba's pro day at Concordia University in Quebec, according to NFL Draft Diamonds. The other teams on hand were the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, and Green Bay Packers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs sent scouts to watch Simba during the 2018 USports season.

Simba became the first Canadian to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in January, where all 32 NFL teams had representatives.

Simba moved from the Democratic Republic of Congo native to Canada in 2012. He is a two-time Quebec university conference all-star and All-Canadian.
