NFL Awards: Vote for Gore and Willis

Running back Frank Gore is a nominee for this week's FedEx Ground award. Linebacker Patrick Willis is up for the GMC Defensive Player of the Week and the Rookie of the Week.

Gore had 116 yards on 21 carries, two touchdowns and added 11 catches for 98 yards in the 49ers' dramatic overtime win against the Arizona Cardinals.

Willis made 18 tackles and a ½ sack. He was also responsible for running down Sean Morey on a 67-yard reception in overtime preventing Arizona from winning the game.

The ageless San Francisco 49ers legend, Frank Gore, has cast his vote for the best running back and offensive tackle combo in NFL history. The official Twitter account of Bovada Sportsbook asked fans to name their nominees, so Gore went ahead and responded. The 49ers' all-time leading rusher and future Hall of Famer named himself and former teammate Joe Staley. Gore, as of this post, features a photo of Staley's No. 74 as his Twitter profile photo. Analyst was 'stunned' Patrick Willis wasn't part of 2020 Hall of Fame class, feels voters will make him wait longer

There were some San Francisco 49ers fans who were surprised to see one name noticeably omitted from the Pro Football Hall of Fame finalists when the list of 15 was revealed on January 2. Much to their disappointment, former linebacker Patrick Willis didn't make the cut. There was much debate whether or not Willis' shortened career would hinder his chances of being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. He'll probably get in there — eventually. But for now, he'll have to wait. The 49ers made Willis the No. 11 overall draft pick in 2007, and he spent eight seasons with San Francisco before retiring after the 2014 season. Brandt: 49ers' George Kittle and Nick Bosa among top 10 offensive-defensive duos in the NFL

Gil Brandt of NFL Media named Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Bobby Wagner as the best offensive-defensive duos in the NFL heading into the 2020 season. A San Francisco 49ers duo also made his top-10 list. That would be the team's young stars — tight end George Kittle and defensive end Nick Bosa. Kittle is entering his fourth NFL season while Bosa is entering his second. The former has posted back-to-back seasons of over 1,000 yards receiving while proving to be an outstanding run-blocker and earning Pro Bowl selections and first-team All-Pro honors along the way.
