The San Francisco 49ers' all-time leading rusher, retired running back Frank Gore, has been charged with simple assault related to a domestic violence incident, per the Atlantic City, N.J., police. News of the incident was reported by Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle after being reported by TMZ. "Gore, 39, was charged after police were dispatched to the Tropicana Atlantic City at 8:11 a.m. on July 31," wrote Branch. "The alleged victim, a 28-year-old woman from Miami, was speaking with hotel security when they arrived. The woman did not exhibit signs of injury and a complaint was not filed that day. Gore was charged after a resulting

49ers QB Trey Lance: The Ups and Downs

An old cliche phrase says, "It's not about how you start. It's about how you finish." I would encourage the faithful to keep that in mind when evaluating the new quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, Trey Lance. After three practices, Lance has completed around 20 out of 37 passes and thrown two interceptions for a completion rate of a little over 50 percent (54 percent, to be exact). A young quarterback completing over 50 percent of his passes is not that bad, especially when you factor in the context. During day one's session at training camp, Lance went 9-11 with zero interceptions. The sports world lost an icon on Tuesday. Legendary sports broadcaster Vin Scully died at the age of 94. Scully, best known as the long-time voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers, also called other sports during his illustrious career. That includes one game remembered by Bay Area fans as the greatest moment in San Francisco 49ers history. Scully and Hank Stram called the 1981 NFC Championship Game for CBS, a matchup between the 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys. Scully is the voice heard in replays of "The Catch," the throw from quarterback Joe Montana to wide receiver Dwight Clark, launching a

Will the 49ers sign a veteran center? Will they move Deebo Samuel to tight end? And other mailbag questions answered

By Marc Adams

On Monday, the San Francisco 49ers began padded practices. The contract extension for Deebo Samuel was also announced. It's a fun time of the year, as the team prepares to make another run for a sixth Super Bowl championship. We opened up the 49ers mailbag and had plenty of questions to choose from. Let's respond to a handful: Diana Kayatani: There's talk about Jimmy possibly going to the Seahawks. If and when he leaves, where should he go? Felix Watkins: Where do you think Jimmy is going? The world awaits news on Jimmy Garoppolo. Will he be traded or released? Where will he go? Will he be a starter or a backup? How does he get his hair to look so nice? I wish we already had the answer to those questions. The good
