San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media on Monday and offered a comprehensive injury update following the team's 28-18 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
The 49ers will use this week to prepare for next Monday night's matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Shanahan moved the practice schedule back a day because of the extra time the team has to prepare. That means the first practice of the week will take place on Thursday rather than the typical Wednesday.
Shanahan and the coaching staff will treat Tuesday like a typical Monday, which they primarily use to review film from the previous game. That means Monday was an extra bonus day that injured players had to recover.
Below are the injury updates provided by Shanahan.
- TE Garrett Celek (quad); will be rechecked before Thursday's practice.
- RB Matt Breida (ankle) will not practice on Thursday. Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reported on Monday that the injury was a mid-ankle sprain and not a high-ankle sprain, which is better news. Breida will probably be doubtful versus Green Bay, according to Shanahan.
- Reuben Foster (shoulder); will be rechecked before Thursday's practice.
- Shanahan hopes WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring, quadricep) will be able to practice on Thursday.
- TE George Kittle (knee); will be rechecked before Thursday's practice.
- WR Dante Pettis (knee) will not practice this week or play versus Green Bay.
- G Mike Person (knee); will be rechecked before Thursday's practice.
- C Weston Richburg (knee); will be rechecked before Thursday's practice.
- CB Richard Sherman (calf); will be rechecked before Thursday's practice.
- T Joe Staley (knee); will be rechecked before Thursday's practice.
- DB Jimmie Ward (hamstring); will be rechecked before Thursday's practice.
