Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Simms is among the list of known quarterbacks working out for the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday.
Among the QBs working out for the #49ers today: Matt Simms. He joins Tom Savage, Kellen Clemens and T.J. Yates. Could be more, too. Kyle Shanahan said they were talking to Matt Moore. Simms was with Shanahan in Atlanta.
The New York Jets signed Simms as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee in 2012. He spent his first three NFL seasons in New York.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has familiarity with Simms, who joined the Falcons in 2015 when Shanahan was the offensive coordinator there. Simms spent two seasons on Atlanta's practice squad before being released with an injury settlement before last season.
Simms joins Tom Savage, Kellen Clemens, and T.J. Yates in working out for the 49ers. The team had hoped to work out former Miami Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore as well but he declined, according to his agent.
QB Matt Moore, 34, won't be working out for the #49ers today, per his agent, Lynn Lashbrook. Moore is still weighing his options regarding a return to NFL.
