The San Francisco 49ers' efforts in Week 3 versus the Kansas City Chiefs went from bad to worse in the fourth quarter, when quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered an apparent knee injury on a 13-yard scramble at the 5:55 mark of the quarter.

Garoppolo was hit by Chiefs cornerback Steven Nelson, and the Niners' franchise quarterback appeared to be in quite a bit of pain right afterwards.

Here's a look at the play:

Garoppolo made his way to the blue injury tent and later was carted off the sidelines. News of his injury will come along in time.

No. 2 quarterback C.J. Beathard relieved Garoppolo and subsequently hit tight end George Kittle for a would-be touchdown. But the score was negated by what was arguably a ticky-tack offensive pass-interference call against tight end Kyle Juszczyk.

Stay tuned with more news about Garoppolo's injury, along with the swarm of other injuries the Niners suffered in the contest.
