Pro Football Focus continues its offseason position-by-position rankings and has finally landed at quarterback. The analytics site ranks the quarterback and quarterback situation for all 32 NFL teams. At the top spot, of course, is Tom Brady of the New England Patriots.

The San Francisco 49ers' signal caller, Jimmy Garoppolo, ranks at No. 11. The only other NFC West quarterback ranked above Garoppolo on the list is Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, who lands at No. 5. Jared Goff of the Los Angeles Rams came in at No. 18 while Sam Bradford of the Arizona Cardinals ranked No. 22.

Garoppolo has an 86.6 grade in 2017, which ranked fourth in the NFL among qualifying quarterbacks. Steve Palazzolo writes the following about his ranking position:

"It's been a small sample, but Garoppolo has had an excellent start to his career, particularly an 86.6 overall grade that ranked fourth in the NFL last season. He had the highest percentage of positively-graded throws in 2017, despite ranking only 39th in big-time throw percentage. Garoppolo also did a fine job of taking care of the ball with the fifth-lowest percentage of turnover-worthy plays."

Expectations are high for Garoppolo, who is coming off of an impressive five-game winning streak to end 2017. His sample size is considered small because he has just seven career starts with five coming last season with San Francisco.

Garoppolo had a full offseason to learn the nuances of head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense. That, along with a revamped offensive line and some added weapons, has the Niner Faithful excited for the upcoming season.

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers have primarily focused on bolstering their defense in free agency. This has included a significant overhaul of the team's defensive front, with notable departures such as Arik Armstead, Chase Young, and Clelin Ferrell. However, the 49ers managed to reinforce their defensive line with key signings, including Leonard Floyd, Yetur Gross-Matos, and Jordan Elliott. Additionally, they traded for Maliek Collins to help along the interior. Pro Football Focus recently analyzed the pros and cons of each team's free-agent acquisitions, indicating that San Francisco isn't expected to take a step back when it comes to rushing the passer. "Despite losing Arik Armstead and Chase Young,

PFF mock draft has 49ers finding potential replacement for Colton McKivitz

By David Bonilla
Mar 23

Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema unveiled his latest mock draft this week and has the San Francisco 49ers addressing the offensive line. Specifically, Sikkema suggests the team seeks a potential replacement for Colton McKivitz at right tackle. In Sikkema's projection, the Niners select former Georgia offensive lineman Amarius Mims with the No. 31 overall pick. The analyst views him as an ideal addition to an offensive front that was untouched in free agency—apart from ensuring continuity among last season's starters. "Mims has one of the craziest builds you will have ever seen — in a good way

The San Francisco 49ers focused on defense in free agency but still have several needs heading into the 2024 NFL Draft. The team did not address the offensive line, and it's a safe bet they will do so with some rookie selections next month. The Niners could also continue bolstering things on the defensive side of the football. Adding to the defensive back, defensive line, or linebacker groups remains possibilities. Pro Football Focus analyst Brad Spielberger released his latest mock draft and doesn't have the 49ers drafting at any of those positions. Instead, he has the team adding a bit of an insurance policy on offense, drafting former Georgia wide receiver

Jimmy Garoppolo explains why he signed with 49ers' division rival

By David Bonilla
Mar 20

Jimmy Garoppolo is back in the NFC West after signing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback recently explained his decision to join the division rival after a one-season stint with the Las Vegas Raiders. "Obviously good players all around," Garoppolo said, per ESPN. "That's a big part of it. Talking to [head coach] Sean [McVay] on the phone, him just running me through offense and things that he had in mind, it really became appetizing. And I know a lot of the coaches here, so a lot of familiarity in that aspect. And then having played against the Rams a lot in my career, I've seen a lot of good things
