After losing nine straight, the San Francisco 49ers finally won their first game of the season – a 31-21 victory over the visiting New York Giants. San Francisco improves to 1-9 while New York drops to 1-8.
Below is a mix of some key player stats provided by the 49ers Communications staff and Pro Football Focus.
Key Player Statistics
49ers players rushed the football 33 times for a season-high 186 yards and two touchdowns. One of those scores came from quarterback C.J. Beathard on an 11-yard bootleg into the end zone. The team's total rushing yards were the most by the 49ers since December 11, 2016, when they had 248 against the New York Jets but lost the game.
Running back Matt Breida's 33-yard touchdown run was the longest by a 49ers player this season.
Carlos Hyde averaged 4.9 yards after contact. 84 of his 90 rushing yards came after the first hit.
The 49ers converted eight of their 12 third-down attempts. The 66.7-percent conversion percentage was the highest of the season and the highest since October 27, 2013, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin caught his first touchdown pass of the season. It was an 83-yard reception from Beathard that gave the 49ers a 10-6 lead in the second quarter. The score was also the longest pass player by a 49ers player since October 13, 2014, when quarterback Colin Kaepernick threw an 83-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Brandon Lloyd against the St. Louis Rams.
Beathard's touchdown pass to Goodwin was the longest of his career and the longest by a 49ers rookie quarterback in franchise history. He became the first quarterback in franchise history to complete two touchdowns of 45-or-more yards in a single game.
Beathard's 186 passing attempts has set a franchise record for the most by a rookie quarterback. The record was previously held by Tom Owen, who had 184 in 1974. Beathard has also set a franchise record for the most completions by a rookie quarterback with his 101. Again, he passed Owen who had 88 in 1974.

Beathard was under pressure on just four of his 27 dropbacks. He was 18 of 21 for 279 yards, two touchdowns, an interception, and a 130.7 passer rating while not under pressure. Beathard had a perfect passer rating (158.3) when throwing beyond the line of scrimmage and between the numbers. He was 11 of 12 for 242 yards and two touchdowns during those plays.
The 49ers punted just once in the game, which was the fewest since September 14, 2014, against the Chicago Bears.
Defensive lineman Ronald Blair now has five career sacks. He brought down Giants quarterback Eli Manning twice and stripped the football from his hards once. Safety Eric Reid recovered the loose football, and the 49ers offense scored on the ensuing drive.
Outside of his good statistical outing that included four stops and a quarterback hit, linebacker Reuben Foster also allowed just 12 yards in coverage on three targets. His 90.1 overall grade this season ranks him fourth among linebackers and just ahead of Luke Kuechly of the Carolina Panthers.
