For the first time this season, the San Francisco 49ers went into halftime with a lead. The team has maintained that lead into the fourth quarter and even extended it following a bootleg run into the end zone by rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard. The 49ers took a 24-13 lead over the visiting New York Giants on the 11-yard score that concluded an 11-play, 61-yard drive.
The 49ers are fighting for their first win and avoid a winless season. Following the score, Beathard had already completed 18 of his 24 pass attempts for 280 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
The Giants are trying to avoid its eighth loss and win just its second game of the season.
