The San Francisco 49ers are getting their first in-game look at C.J. Beathard. The rookie quarterback has replaced Brian Hoyer against the Washington Redskins.
Hoyer started the game completing just four of his 12 pass attempts for 34 yards. Head coach Kyle Shanahan made the switch in the second quarter with the 49ers down 14-0.
During his first drive, Beathard completed his first pass to tight end Garrett Celek, who gained 13 yards. His next three pass attempts were incomplete.
In April, Beathard was a third-round selection by the 49ers out of Iowa.
