49erswebzone.com tailgate a great success!

Sep 11, 2007 at 4:19 PM--

A special thanks to all of the 49erswebzone.com fans who attended the official Webzone tailgate on Monday prior to the game against the Cardinals. The fun started at 1pm and lasted until about 6:30pm. Addicted fans still kept in touch with the 49erswebzone.com forum from the tailgate via PDA's, cell phones and even wireless internet enabled laptop that was brought to the party (a thread that tailgate guests started can be found here). At the last count, we had over 70 people at our tailgate.

There was tons of food, drinks, a tailgate football game and yes, even Bubu make an appearance. Photos from the tailgate will be made available soon as well as some video taken from the festivities. We even had some fans from other sites stop by. A couple of people from 49ersParadise hung out with us and Chris from NinerCapHell came over and had a few drinks with us.

Thanks to Oliver (kidash98) and Jim (49erJim) for getting this bad boy organized.

And I would like to send a special thank you to Matt Maiocco and Matt Barrows for stopping by and hanging out with us. It was great having everyone out there with us.

Colts LB Darius Leonard was happy to see 49ers move away from early-game run success

By Kirk Larrabee
Oct 25

Early in their 30-18 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night, the San Francisco 49ers looked like they were poised for a big evening on offense when they gashed the Colts' defense with a strong running attack on the opening drive. But things changed dramatically after that, which came as a pleasant surprise to Colts All-Pro linebacker Darius Leonard. The 49ers established the run early, with running back Elijah Mitchell gaining 57 yards on five carries on an eight-play, 78-yard drive that ended with the 49ers taking a 6-0 lead on a 14-yard Mitchell touchdown run. But not long after that, the 49ers all but disappeared on offense until scoring their second touchdown of the game early in the fourth quarter. The 49ers added two more field goals before the end

Have we seen Raheem Mostert in red and gold for the last time? The San Francisco 49ers running back will become a free agent after this season. He appeared in one game before suffering a knee injury and landing on injured reserve. The initial prognosis had Mostert missing about eight weeks, providing hope that the veteran running back would return this season. It wasn't long before Mostert announced that he opted for surgery, ending his 2021 campaign. "After consulting with multiple doctors and weighing my options, I will be having season-ending surgery to repair my knee," wrote Mostert via his announcement. Mostert underwent surgery this past week and

49ers great Jerry Rice shares why QB transitions can be challenging for players

By David Bonilla
Oct 21

NFL legend Jerry Rice has witnessed a San Francisco 49ers quarterback transition before — but on a much grander scale. For him, it was watching one future Hall of Fame quarterback succeed another future Hall of Fame quarterback. There is yet another transition taking place in Santa Clara, this time from Jimmy Garoppolo, a quarterback who helped guide the 49ers to a Super Bowl just two seasons ago, to rookie Trey Lance. The topic has been discussed at length. When should it happen? How should it happen? Most of the quarterback discussion is done with an outside perspective. This week, Rice joined the 49ers Talk podcast to share the behind-the-scenes perspective and what a quarterback transition is like for players. "It's kind of hard to

49ers hope Brandon Aiyuk's 'great week' of practice carries over to Colts game, says Deebo Samuel

By Rohan Chakravarthi
Oct 22

Brandon Aiyuk has certainly been in the spotlight over the 49ers bye week, as his lack of touches on the year has been questioned, given his impressive rookie season. Aiyuk currently has just 15 targets on the year, good for 5th on the team, and only eight of those plays have resulted in a catch. Last year, Aiyuk accumulated 60 receptions, 748 yards, and five touchdowns, leading the team in all three categories while playing in just 12 games. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will return to the field Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts and has had the chance to practice with Aiyuk and the first-team offense after being cleared for the calf injury he sustained against the Seattle Seahawks. Amongst that first-team offense is breakout star receiver Deebo
