The San Francisco 49ers are bringing in another veteran defensive back in addition to safety Jairus Byrd. The team plans to work out veteran cornerback Leon Hall on Wednesday, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
The #49ers will spend today working out some veteran free agent DBs, including ex-#Bengals & #Giants CB Leon Hall & ex-#Saints S Jairus Byrd
Hall spent nine seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, the team that drafted him with the 18th overall selection in the 2007 NFL Draft. He spent the 2016 season with the New York Giants.
Over his career, Hall has 501 tackles, 27 interceptions, 113 passes defended, six forced fumbles, and three defensive touchdowns.
After signing a one-year, $2 million contract in August of 2016, Hall appeared in 12 games for the Giants last season – starting just two. He contributed a lot to the safety position in 2016.
Update:
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reported that Hall visited with the 49ers on Tuesday but did not work out. Byrd is working out for the 49ers on Wednesday.
