49ers interviewing Jerome Henderson and Robert Saleh Friday; Could be co-defensive coordinators

Feb 10, 2017 at 9:46 AM--

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that the San Francisco 49ers will interview both Atlanta Falcons defensive passing game coordinator Jerome Henderson and former Jacksonville Jaguars linebackers coach Robert Saleh on Friday for the defensive coordinator job.

The most interesting part of the report is that both might get the job. Rapoport reports that the pair could serve as co-defensive coordinators for the 49ers.

Of course, Shanahan is very familiar with Henderson, who he worked with in Atlanta. He has also served as the defensive backs coach for the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, and New York Jets.

Saleh has spent the past three seasons in Jacksonville and was reportedly ready to join the Chargers in Los Angeles for the same role under defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.

On Monday, the quarterback underwent what most assumed to be season-ending surgery to repair the damage suffered when he broke his ankle against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. On a conference call with reporters this week, head coach Kyle Shanahan sounded pretty confident that Lance would be ready to go for Week 1 of the 2023 season. One expert isn't so sure the injury is season-ending, though. Foot and ankle surgeon Dr. Kenneth Jung, a consultant to the Los Angeles Rams, believes Lance could be fully healed within 10 to 12 weeks. Assuming the lengthier estimated recovery time, that might make him available after Week 14. However, the shorter estimate could mean Lance is healthy after Week
