On how Hyde is feeling after two games.
"Yeah, my body's feeling great. I'm actually getting a message right now."
After some discussion about the message, the discussion moved on to Colin Kaepernick. Has his stance brought the locker room together?
"I would say so. You know, with all of the media coverage that we've been getting lately, with the media coming at you, you know, different questions. Trying to ask guys questions on the side. Trying to to get the lowdown on things. And all of the players stay together and stay on the same page. So it makes it easy that we're all on the same page and nobody's going against each other. You know? Everybody's focused on each week, our opponent, and how to beat our opponent."
Is Hyde ready for an awful lot of touches on Sunday against the Seahawks?
"Yes. Yes. Each week I'm ready. And this week, like you said, passes going to start with the running game. I've really got to be on point this week. Last week was a learning step. Definitely something to learn from so this week, it'd going to be huge so I'll definitely be ready."
What's Chip Kelly like as a coach and how are things different from last year?
"Coach Kelly's great. Just going through each week. He does a good job keeping our bodies fresh. We going into games, we're feeling good and our game plans are great. Coach Kelly brings a lot of energy. You know, he does a good job talking to us before a game, getting us fired up. Just seeing it in his face gets you going. Things are totally different from last year. With coach Kelly, he's been a guy in this position before so he knows the ropes already. You're talking to a guy that's already been there before. It's easy to follow his plan because he's been a winning coach before so he definitely has that resume."
On Kelly's ability to connect with the players and this football team.
"Yes. Yes. Definitely. I think he does a great job connecting to his football team. He had us doing a bunch of team activities together, team bonding stuff, just getting the team closer. And that's how it's been, going through the season, just being us. You know, the guys that you go out and practice with every day, the coaches that put in countless hours. So it's just been us and he's done a great job at that."
On struggling against the Carolina Panthers.
"Hats off to those guys. They played a great game. I think I just became too impatient. I started showing my alignment up and then that was taking me off my reads and stuff. So, it was just on me for real. Even though those guys, they were doing some things, but at the end of the day, it was also on me. Also, I put the ball on the ground and they got seven points from that and I can't do that. I have to put my team in a position to score points, not to be giving up points. That's definitely something this week that I've been (focusing on). My lineman and ball security. And just helping my team this week to get this win."
Is it different playing a rival this week?
"Yes, definitely. I would say so. You're not going to the East Coast. So the time difference will be the same when we're going over there to Seattle. Won't be a big difference than going to the East Coast. And playing Seattle, it's a divisional opponent. So every divisional team that we play, it's a big – it's bigger than any other team. Playing the Panthers, it's way bigger than that. We need this win way bigger than we needed the win against the Panthers. So, this week is huge though."
On the big win by Ohio State.
"Yeah, I was up late watching that game and I had to fall asleep. It was a blowout and it was game over."
On the similarities on what he did at Ohio State to what he is doing now with the 49ers.
"Yeah, you know, it's the same zone read. With coach Kelly, we changed up the end point, but it's pretty much all the same when it comes to running the ball. So I really feel no difference with it. I just think, in the NFL, you have to be patient. In college, you're able to just get the ball and just run. You know, not too many guys in college will be able to tackle you but in the NFL, everybody's good so you really have to be on point."
Hyde finished up the interview by saying that his massage was going well.
