Undlin, 50, had been with the 49ers for the past two seasons, following a stint with the Detroit Lions as their defensive coordinator in 2020, and is expected to receive interest from the Houston Texans for their defensive coordinator position.
Undlin is the only member of the 49ers 2022 defensive assistant staff to have been a coordinator in his previous years, hence why it's sensible that new head coach and former 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans has shown an interest in his former colleague.
Undlin is one of a few candidates that have been linked to the position, as Wilson reported that the Texans are also interested in former Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Marquand Manuel and Washington Commanders secondary coach Chris Harris, who has been linked to the 49ers defensive coordinator position as well.
However, there is one name that won't be a part of that list: 49ers defensive line coach Kris Kocurek, who reportedly is remaining with the 49ers, although he could see a pay raise and/or a different job title.
