DL coach Kris Kocurek staying with 49ers, per report
After a week of speculation following the hiring of DeMeco Ryans as the head coach of the Houston Texans, the San Francisco 49ers are retaining defensive line coach Kris Kocurek, according to Houston Texans reporter Aaron Wilson.
"The Texans had interest in 49ers defensive line coach Kris Kocurek for their defensive coordinator position, but sources emphasized that Kocurek will remain with the 49ers. Kocurek, a Texas Tech graduate and former NFL defensive lineman, could potentially receive an upgraded salary and/or job title," wrote Wilson.
Kocurek had previously been on record stating his preference for coaching the defensive line, as opposed to a coordinator position, and is primed to remain in his role with the 49ers, despite receiving interest from the Texans for their defensive coordinator position.
The Texans aren't done searching from the 49ers' coaching staff, as they have an interest in 49ers' defensive passing game specialist and secondary coach Cory Undlin, according to Wilson, in addition to Washington Commanders secondary coach Chris Harris, whom San Francisco has requested to interview for their vacant defensive coordinator position.

Why Trey Lance faces uphill battle to win 49ers' starting job, per Kyle Shanahan
The San Francisco 49ers expect Brock Purdy to be ready to play between early September and early November. That's a significant range considering the 2023 NFL season begins in early September. Head coach Kyle Shanahan, speaking with reporters at the NFL owners' meetings in Arizona, said the team expects its 23-year-old quarterback's recovery from his March 10 surgery to be six to eight months.
The 49ers will know more in June, when Purdy begins throwing again and starts ramping up his workload as part of his rehab.
"It might be Week 1," Shanahan said. "I think I'm hearing, at the latest, Week 4. But that's just all estimations, and we'll see what
