Below are the 49ers-Panthers in-game injury updates.
S Jimmie Ward (broken hand, ruled out)
Safety Jimmie Ward was on the field—as a hybrid linebacker—for the 49ers' first defensive drive. However, he disappeared after that. San Francisco announced that he suffered a hand injury and has been ruled out.
Later, Ward rejoined his teammates on the sidelines, but in street clothes. The good news is that his hand was not wrapped.
This game was Ward's 2022 season debut. He missed the first four games of the season due to a hamstring injury. The 49ers opened Ward's practice window last week and activated him off the injured reserve list on Saturday.
After the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan said Ward suffered a broken hand.
DE Nick Bosa (groin, ruled out)
Defensive end Nick Bosa left the game in the third quarter. Trainers examined him on the sideline for some time. The CBS broadcast later announced that Bosa has been ruled out due to a groin injury.
After the game, Shanahan said Bosa is dealing with a tight groin and will undergo more tests on Monday.
K Robbie Gould (left knee, ruled out)
Late in the third quarter, kicker Robbie Gould hobbled off the field after making a tackle on special teams. The 49ers initially announced that he suffered a left knee injury and is questionable to return. The team later ruled Gould out for the remainder of the game.
After the game, Shanahan said the injury is most likely a contusion.
CB Emmanuel Moseley (knee)
Cornerback Emmanuel Moseley went down late in the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a left leg injury. He needed assistance to get off the field but was able to put pressure on the leg after reaching the sideline.
After the game, Shanahan said the 49ers fear an ACL injury for Moseley, but they are awaiting the results from tests.
