NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport joined the PatMcAfee Show and shared what he's heard about and witnessed from last year's No. 3 overall pick. While none of it is new information, Rapoport still discussed Lance's "up and down" training camp.
McAfee hilariously expressed shock as if the report were something unexpected or unknown. However, it's worth noting that he seemingly admits that he's only watched practice highlights, so it's obvious he isn't keeping up with the news coming out of Santa Clara.
The video is worth watching just for McAfee's humorous overreaction alone. Regardless, below is what Rapoport said about Lance.
"I know when I was there a couple of days ago, it was pretty up and down, which is fine," Rapoport said. "He's very raw. He's learning on the fly. And there's certainly some accuracy issues. Yesterday (Sunday) was a pretty rough day, [completing] less than 50 percent of his passes.
"I think that's the way it's going to be because they've got a great defense. They're going to run the absolute heck out of the ball. He is a second-year player that needs to figure it out. They made that big trade last year for 15 years, not for Year 2, so there's a lot of talent—a lot of talent—and he's going to make some 'wow' plays.
"And everything else—accuracy, the up and down—they're going to have to live with. And I think because they are so talented on defense—really, really talented—and they're going to run the ball well, I think they'll be able to manage that, especially early. But it has been a little up and down."
H/t to TheSFNiners for the find.
