Inactives:
- WR Travis Benjamin
- DL Maurice Hurst
- DT Javon Kinlaw
- QB Trey Lance
- DB Deommodore Lenoir
- CB Ambry Thomas
- T Trent Williams
On Friday, Hurst (calf), Kinlaw (knee), and Lance (knee) were ruled out for tonight's game. Williams (ankle, elbow) was listed as "doubtful" and will not play.
Williams has been dealing with an ankle sprain sustained during the 49ers' Week 5 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He did not practice Wednesday through Friday after tweaking the injury during Monday's bonus practice.
"We didn't think it was as bad as it obviously is," head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Friday. "As tough as he is, being able to finish that game [in Arizona] and everything, but he re-zinged it a little bit at practice on Monday and hasn't been able to go since.
"But Trent out of anybody on this team, we'll take up all the way to game time."
Shanahan added that rookie Jaylon Moore would start at left tackle if Williams can't play. It's also worth noting that rookie offensive lineman Aaron Banks is active for the first time this season.
Lance sustained a knee sprain during Week 5, an injury that was expected to require one to two weeks of recovery. The team sounds confident that the rookie quarterback will be healthy enough for next weekend's game.
Hurst suffered a calf injury during Thursday's practice. He will require four to eight weeks of recovery time. Kinlaw is dealing with the same knee injury that has plagued him all season, and Shanahan said on Friday that injured reserve is a possibility for the second-year defensive lineman.
On Saturday, the 49ers activated running back JaMycal Hasty from the injured reserve list. With Lance ruled out, the team activated quarterback Nate Sudfeld from the practice squad to serve as Jimmy Garoppolo's backup. Tight end Tanner Hudson was also activated while George Kittle remains on injured reserve. On Monday, Sudfeld and Hudson will revert back to the practice squad.
San Francisco promoted linebacker Tyrell Adams from the practice squad to the active roster and released linebacker Mychal Kendricks, who spent less than a week with the team after re-signing on October 18.
