Tackle Trent Williams, quarterback Trey Lance, and defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw have missed three consecutive practices.
Williams suffered an ankle sprain during the 49ers' Week 5 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Kyle Shanahan repeated what he said on Thursday, that the veteran tackle tweaked the injury during Monday's practice. The final decision on Williams will go all the way up to game time, said the coach. For now, he has been ruled "doubtful." Rookie Jaylon Moore will start if Williams doesn't play.
Lance emerged from that Week 5 game with a knee sprain. He has been ruled "out" as he continues to recover.
Kinlaw is dealing with the same knee injury that has plagued him all season. The initial injury occurred last season, on December 20, 2020, against the Dallas Cowboys. Kinlaw has been ruled out and Shanahan said the second-year defender is a candidate to land on injured reserve.
During Thursday's practice, defensive tackle Maurice Hurst suffered an injury and was seen today leaving the 49ers' facility on crutches and wearing an orthopedic boot. Shanahan said Hurst suffered a "pretty bad" calf injury and could miss four to eight weeks.
Shanahan was asked if Jimmy Garoppolo is good to go and will start at quarterback on Sunday.
"Yeah, definitely," Shanahan responded. "He got better each day, and I see him as 100-percent now."
