Also among the topics during the First Take interview was Trey Lance. Molly Qerim Rose asked Kittle about the San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback, now that the offseason program is behind them.
"Trey's a good quarterback," Kittle told Stephen A. Smith, Max Kellerman, and Qerim Rose. "I'm excited to see the progression that he makes. He's a hell of an athlete. Just being in OTAs with him, he's a guy that wants to learn every single day. He's competitive every single day. He doesn't let mistakes stop him. Nothing snowballs."
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler recently shared what the 49ers focused on for their 21-year-old quarterback before players departed for their offseason break.
"I'm told San Fran spent much of the OTAs and minicamp working on Trey Lance's mechanics, making sure things were compact," Fowler said. "And the reason is they wanted to get that down so that in training camp they can unleash the full arsenal."
Players are off until they report back to Santa Clara on July 27 for training camp. They are expected to work on their own, hone what they learned during organized team activities, stay in shape, and be prepared to show their progress when they return.
Lance has been working hard during the time off. Several videos have surfaced (here, here, and here) of the rookie quarterback going through throwing sessions with receivers, including veteran teammate Mohamed Sanu.
Adds Kittle: "He's got all the right attributes, and I'm just excited to see how he progresses in training camp."
