Peters reminds everyone that there were other players there. For example, one of the receivers that Lawrence was throwing to during the workout was Cornell Powell, who caught 53 passes for 882 yards and seven touchdowns for the Tigers last season.
The trip also provided an opportunity for some local team scouts.
"And Ethan Waugh, our college director, he lives in South Carolina," Peters told Barrows. "So it's an easy trip for him. And then Steve Rubio, who's our Southeast scout, there are a couple of other Clemson players there along with some pro free agents. So it was good for him to see them. And this is Steve's first year in the Southeast. This is actually his first time on Clemson's campus since he got the Southeast area job."
For Rubio, it was an opportunity to make some contacts with individuals he hadn't been able to see in person yet.
As for Lawrence, you still want to do your due diligence on the quarterback. Knowing he will go No. 1 overall, though, you probably don't need to do as much homework on him as other quarterbacks who are expected to be selected later in the first round. San Francisco isn't a likely candidate to trade up to the top spot.
"You finish up your report (on Lawrence) and you're done with it," added Peters. "And you get to see a couple of other players at that time, too."
