The San Francisco 49ers returned to the practice field on Tuesday after having Monday off. The session was their ninth of training camp. Below are some practice notes from various media sources.


Defensive ends Nick Bosa (leg) and Dee Ford (calf), along with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (hamstring) and tight end Ross Dwelley (foot), did not practice. Ford and Aiyuk left practice on Sunday due to injuries. Defensive tackle D.J. Jones, however, returned to practice. (The Athletic)


Jones is out of the concussion protocol.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan provided several injury updates on many of the players listed above. Aiyuk suffered a mild hamstring strain and is week-to-week. Bosa sustained a muscle strain in his leg and is week-to-week. Ford suffered a calf irritation and is day-to-day.

Cornerback K'Waun Williams, center Ben Garland (ankle), and offensive lineman Ross Reynolds (knee) also did not practice. Reynolds was carted off the practice field on Sunday. Tight end Jordan Reed was in pads and practiced for the first time. (NBC Sports Bay Area)

Running back Raheem Mostert received a veteran day off.

Reed had a dominant outing during 1-on-1 drills. "Jordan Reed just took part in his first 1-on-1 drills of camp. He went 4-4 vs SF's safeties, including two catches vs. Jaquiski Tartt, which is no easy feat," wrote Matt Barrows. (The Athletic)



"Reed also made a nice catch over the middle in 11 on 11s and George Kittle had a potential 70-ish yard TD, besting Johnathan Cyprien down the right sideline and cutting inside against Tarvarius Moore. Unclear if Moore, who might be the #49ers' fastest player, would've caught him," wrote Jake Hutchinson. (KNBR)

"Craziest play of #49ers practice: Nick Mullens overthrew Dante Pettis over middle, Pettis tried to prevent INT, ricocheted to D.J. Jones for the INT, who hauled towards the end zone. Then Jeff Wilson Jr. chased him down and stripped the ball from Jones for a fumble," wrote Hutchinson. (KNBR)

Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said on Sunday that the 49ers hope Thomas "stays inside at all costs."

Safety Johnathan Cyprien intercepted his second pass of training camp. He hauled in a deep Beathard-thrown football after cornerback Emmanuel Moseley broke it up while going against wide receiver Dante Pettis. (NBC Sports Bay Area)

"Some really strong pass rush reps from DL Arik Armstead today against Tom Compton. Armstead appears to be settled in after missing first four practice with back tightness," wrote Nick Wagoner. (ESPN)
