San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa set off a barrage of tweets by reporters during Wednesday's practice when the rookie went down after a running play. Trainers were seen examining Bosa's lower right leg.
Bosa was able to get up and slowly walk off the field under his own power. Although, he was reportedly "walking gingerly." He did not return to practice.
Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh didn't sound too concerned about Bosa's injury while speaking with the media after practice.
"I think he's alright," Saleh said. "I still haven't heard from the performance staff but I don't think there's anything to worry about."
The 49ers later announced that Bosa, along with cornerback Jason Verrett, who also left the practice with an injury, is getting an MRI on his ankle.
The 49ers used the No. 2 overall pick in April's draft to select Bosa out of Ohio State. The defensive end missed most of the team's organized team activities and its entire June minicamp due to a low-grade hamstring strain. He has, however, participated in all of training camp.
Just minutes after Bosa left practice, wide receiver Marquise Goodwin went down after slipping on the field while running a route. He was seen grabbing his right leg. Goodwin was able to get up and walk off the field, but did so while "limping pretty noticeably."
Goodwin, unlike Bosa, was able to remain at practice, so the injury seems minor, at worst.
