"Since we arrived last year, Jaquiski has impressed us with his play, his work ethic and the kind of teammate he is," said general manager John Lynch via a statement issued by the team. "We believe he's a natural fit in our defensive system, and his abilities will allow him to flourish. It is always exciting when we are able to extend our own young players like Jaquiski who are dedicated to their craft, this team and our community."
Tartt's 2017 season was cut short by a broken forearm. In nine games as a starter, he accumulated 55 combined tackles, an interception, three passes defensed, and half a sack. Despite the shortened season, Tartt finished as the 11th-highest graded safety by Pro Football Focus. In three NFL seasons, he has recorded 181 combined tackles, 3.5 sacks, nine passes defensed, and two interceptions through 39 games and 23 starts.
The 49ers made Tartt a second-round pick out of Samford in 2015. During his collegiate career, he was a three-time All-America and three-time All-Southern Conference selection, appearing in 44 games and registering 277 tackles, six interceptions, 20 passes defensed, and 6.5 tackles for loss.
