After the 49ers used a third-round pick on Mississippi State cornerback Will Redmond in April, general manager Trent Baalke was asked why he kept selecting rehabilitating players. Redmond, who was six months removed from tearing his ACL, became the seventh player the 49ers had drafted since 2013 who was recovering from a serious knee injury. Of the seven players the 49ers have selected who were coming off knee injuries since 2013, only outside linebacker Tank Carradine and cornerback Keith Reaser, who are both backups, are on their 53-man roster.
