49ers' DeMeco Ryans hopeful Nick Bosa will be available vs. Packers: 'We definitely need him out there'

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers defense is a different beast with pass rusher Nick Bosa anchoring the edge of the defensive line. Unfortunately, Bosa left Sunday's playoff win against the Dallas Cowboys with a head injury. He is currently in the concussion protocol as the team prepares for this weekend's playoff opponent—the Green Bay Packers. The 49ers are at a bit of a disadvantage thanks to the NFL scheduling the Divisional Round playoff match on a Saturday. That means Bosa has one less day to clear the concussion protocol. The 25-year-old has caught 36 passes for 360 yards with a touchdown through his first two NFL seasons. The Cardinals waived him on August 30, 2021. The Philadelphia Eagles signed Johnson to their practice squad on September 2, 2021. He appeared in their Wild Card playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on January 16, a 31-15 loss. Johnson played two offensive snaps and 16 special teams snaps in the postseason appearance. The 49ers worked

Keep in mind there are still a lot of unknowns here, including (as of Sunday morning) whether or not the 49ers will even get this opportunity when they battle in the NFC Championship next Sunday (6:40 p.m. ET/3:40 p.m. PT, FOX). But based on what Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said Saturday night to go with what's been reported about Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady over the past 24 hours, it's not incorrect to say the 49ers could conceivably be the team to
