49ers Notebook: John Lynch on what Christian McCaffrey adds, surprising O-line play

By David Bonilla
Nov 26

The San Francisco 49ers gave up a lot for Christian McCaffrey, sending second-, third-, and fourth-round picks in the 2023 draft and a fifth-round pick in 2024 to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for the star running back. General manager John Lynch acknowledges it was a lot to give up. However, it just speaks to how much the 49ers respected McCaffrey and what he could do in head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense. Lynch and Shanahan already had great confidence in the offense's potential, but they knew that it could be something special with McCaffrey in the picture. "You're not going to make a move like that if you don't think you can compete with anyone in this league, if you don't think this could be the thing to push us over the top," Lynch told NBC Sports Bay

It was a strange week for the San Francisco 49ers, who had to work through an unusual schedule that saw them arrive home from their Monday night game in Mexico City in the early morning hours on Tuesday, followed by Thanksgiving on Thursday. We'll look at that in this version of 49ers Notebook, along with some postgame thoughts from head coach Kyle Shanahan on the running back situation, a look at an impressive streak the 49ers snapped on Sunday, and much more. 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk focused on improving, capitalizing on opportunities

By David Bonilla
Nov 18

Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has caught six-or-more passes for 81-or-more receiving yards in each of his last four games. He's hauled in three touchdown passes in those performances and nearly hauled in a fourth this past Sunday night against the Los Angeles Chargers. Aiyuk is on pace for his first 1,000-yard season and believes he is getting more comfortable as the season progresses. That's bad news for opposing defenses. "Just trying to continue to get better," Aiyuk told reporters after Thursday's practice. "I also feel as if, throughout the games that we've played, I've left a lot of plays out there. So that's my main thing, just trying to capitalize on every single play and every opportunity that I get, and then, hopefully, we'll be in a better spot at that
