During head coach Chip Kelly's three seasons in Philadelphia, the Eagles did not have a fullback on their roster. Miller was a defensive end at Central Florida who was a two-time Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year. A seventh-round pick in 2011, he's shown excellent blocking ability and reliable hands (76 catches) as an NFL fullback. "We look at Bruce as a football player," Kelly said. Celek indicated Miller's role wouldn't necessarily mirror that of the team's other tight ends as of the offseason progresses.
