John Lynch, Kyle Shanahan didn't entertain trade offers, 'thrilled' with 49ers' receiver group

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed reporters after the second day of the 2024 NFL Draft. Naturally, they were asked about any trade discussions the team might have had during the draft so far.
Speculation arose that the 49ers might consider trading wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel. Samuel's name was the focus of trade rumors heading into Day 2. Lynch affirmed that they did not entertain any offers.
"We're happy with our wide receiver group," Lynch said. "Actually, more than happy. We're really thrilled with it and thrilled to have added [Florida WR] Ricky [Pearsall] to that group and even make it stronger."

Offensive tackle was considered one of the San Francisco 49ers' primary needs entering the 2024 NFL Draft, given Trent Williams' age and Colton McKivitz's inconsistent play. Many felt the team might even use their first-round pick, No. 31 overall, to address the position.
Despite adding two rookie offensive linemen (Kansas G Dominick Puni and USC G Jarrett Kingston), general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan opted not to select a tackle.

The selection of former Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall came as a surprise to most. There were plenty of surprises in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, with several teams deviating from projections in mock drafts.
Undeterred, a couple of analysts have put together their projections for Day 2 of the draft following the aftermath of the first round.
