There should not be much prolonged drama with left tackle Trent Williams’ status in future seasons.The 49ers and Williams reached a contract agreement two weeks ago that ties Williams to the team for two more seasons and rewards him if he does not hold out or miss any offseason time over the next two years.
“We did a two-year deal with Trent with great confidence that Trent’s going to be here for a couple years,” 49ers general manager John Lynch said upon confirming the new contract.
The details of the contract, obtained by overthecap.com, show that the two-year, $50 agreement creates more than $26 million in immediate salary cap space for the 49ers. Williams’ cap figure for the 2026 season goes from $46.34 million to $20.01 million.
The contract contains $48.5 million in guaranteed money, including a $22.2 million signing bonus.
Williams, who turns 38 on July 19, is greatly incentivized to play at least through the length of his current deal.
