Seven players 49ers could target with first pick of 2026 NFL Draft second round

SANTA CLARA — After trading back twice, the 49ers might not be done quite yet.The 49ers enter Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft with the first pick of the second round after the 32-selection first round came to a conclusion late Thursday.“The cool thing about the 33rd pick is it puts you in a really nice (spot),” 49ers general manager John Lynch said. “We can reconvene, reset our board, reset our thoughts, and it’s also a coveted pick.”The 49ers watched as players at positions of need flew off the board. In the first round, nine offensive linemen, six edge rushers and five wide receivers were chosen.The Dallas Cowboys selected possible 49ers target Malachi Lawrence, an edge rusher from Central Florida, at No. 23 overall. The Houston Texans moved ahead of the 49ers to select guard Keylan Rutledge from Georgia Tech at No. 26.The 49ers traded back from 27 to 30, and again from 30 to 33.Lynch said the 49ers would field trade offers with the second round of the draft set to begin at 4 p.m. PT on Friday.Otherwise, they will make the pick at No. 33.“We got a good idea of some names,” Lynch said. “We’re also open for...
