PHOENIX — General manager John Lynch believes the contractual standoff between the 49ers and Trent Williams is headed in the right direction. “We’ve had good communication throughout,” Lynch told local media while at the NFL Annual Meeting. “I would say in the last week, it’s kind of intensified. Feel like we are on the precipice of something good happening, but we’ll see. “Don’t want to make any statements like, ‘Hey, we are right there,’ because these things felt like that before, but I do feel like we are in good communication and hopeful.” Throughout the offseason, there have been rumors that the star left tackle could be traded to another franchise if a deal could not be procured, but Lynch shared that negotiations have not been tenuous with Williams’ representation.
