LOS ANGELES — After one season without Dre Greenlaw as a member of the 49ers, Kyle Shanahan is overjoyed to have the linebacker return to the Bay Area. “Very excited,” Shanahan told NBC Sports Bay Area over the weekend in Los Angeles. “Dre is one of my favorite players ever — people ever. We were heartbroken that we lost him last year, but it was just a year away, and he’s right back at home and we are very excited.” Shanahan was in Southern California to coach one of the NFL star-studded teams in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic at BMO Stadium on Saturday. The head coach was visibly happy to talk about Greenlaw’s return, with the linebacker signing a one-year $7.5 million contract with the team. Moments after putting the 49ers quill pen to paper, Greenlaw was welcomed back by Fred Warner, who was at the facility to see his teammate back wearing red and gold at team headquarters.
