According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the San Francisco 49ers have re-signed kicker Eddy Piñeiro, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, to a four-year, $17 million deal with $10 million guaranteed.
"Pineiro is now off the market and will not become a free agent this week," Schefter wrote.

Piñeiro entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Florida in 2018, signing with the then-Oakland Raiders. After spending his rookie season on injured reserve, he was traded to the Chicago Bears in 2019 and later had stints with the New York Jets before enjoying a multi-year run with the Carolina Panthers.
Looking to stabilize a kicking unit that had been plagued by inconsistency, the 49ers signed Piñeiro to a one-year contract on September 10, 2025, ahead of Week 2. During the 2025 regular season, he converted 28 of 29 field goal attempts (96.6 percent), with a long of 59 yards.
Across his NFL career, Piñeiro has appeared in 84 games, making 139 of 155 field goal attempts for an 89.7 percent career success rate. He has also added 150 made extra points and recorded 156 touchbacks on kickoffs, proving himself to be a valuable and dependable veteran kicker.
Piñeiro shared the following message on Instagram after news of his signing was reported.
