The process for the 49ers to replace Robert Saleh as defensive coordinator has started.The organization conducted interviews with three candidates for the opening on coach Kyle Shanahan’s staff, a source told NBC Sports Bay Area on Thursday.The 49ers interviewed Raheem Morris, Joe Woods and Gus Bradley for the position to replace Saleh, who was hired as the Tennessee Titans head coach last week.Saleh returned to the 49ers last year and served one season in the role of defensive coordinator before getting his second opportunity to become an NFL head coach. Saleh had a 20-26 record as New York Jets head coach. He was hired in 2021 and was fired after five games in 2024.Shanahan described Bradley last week as the “main internal candidate.” Bradley served last season on the 49ers’ staff as assistant head coach/defense.Morris previously worked with Shanahan in Washington and Atlanta. He was fired this year after two seasons as Atlanta Falcons head coach.
