SANTA CLARA — Robert Saleh would like the opportunity to dial up exotic defensive schemes, but with a younger defense, the 49ers defensive coordinator is trying to find balance.“Every game plan is different,” Saleh said Thursday. “We tried to be aggressive with Houston and it didn’t quite work out. We tried to do our best to make the rookie play quarterback and it worked out. Some days will be good, some days not so much.”Saleh was referring to the team’s Week 8 loss to the Houston Texans when the coordinator used every opportunity possible to get pressure on C.J. Stroud, using blitzes by various players. A week later, when the 49ers appeared to keep it simple, the group was more disciplined in holding the New York Giants to only seven points in the first half.Now, Saleh has the task of slowing down Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams’ offense that includes receiver Puka Nacua and ball carrier Kyren Williams — all without veterans Nick Bosa and Fred Warner on the field. “This game plan is going to be specific to the Rams and Stafford and what we’ve got to get done in that regard,” Saleh said....
