49ers QB Brock Purdy returns to limited practice on Wednesday before Texans game

SANTA CLARA — Quarterback Brock Purdy is slated to open the week with another day of limited practice.Purdy has appeared in just two games for the 49ers this season after sustaining an injury to his right big toe in the team’s Week 1 game against the Seattle Seahawks. He aggravated the injury when he returned to play three weeks later against the Jacksonville Jaguars.Backup quarterback Mac Jones could be in line to make his fourth consecutive start, and his sixth on the season, when the 49ers return to action on Sunday against the Houston Texans.How Purdy progresses throughout the week will determine his status for the 49ers’ Week 8 game in Houston.“It’s different healing with a toe, but it’s steadily getting better every week,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said.Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir was a new addition to the 49ers’ injury report with a quadriceps injury.
