PFF grades show how Mac Jones, 49ers backups fared in Week 2 win vs. Saints

The 49ers’ star players contributed quite a bit to the team’s 26-21 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at Caesars Superdome, but several of the backups also stepped up according to their PFF grades. San Francisco battled through ups and downs, but ultimately won with backups and players who weren’t even on the active roster in Week 1. Kendrick Bourne, Eddy Piñeiro and a few others who were promoted from the practice squad played a number of snaps in New Orleans.Backup quarterback Mac Jones, who stepped in for an injured Brock Purdy, had the support of his teammates in his first start as a member of the 49ers.“Obviously, when you are having your first start you’re going to have a couple nerves, and I’ve been working through those,” Jones said. “I finally got into a rhythm, and I felt like the line did a great job blocking for me and when they do that, I know I can sit in there and let it fly.”Jones finished the game completing 26 of his 39 attempts for 279 yards with three touchdowns and boasted the longest run of day — a 13-yard scramble for a first down.
