BOX SCOREQuarterback Mac Jones needed one drive to settle in, but once he did, the 49ers’ backup looked in control as he guided San Francisco to a 26-21 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at Caesars Superdome.The 49ers open the season with back-to-back road wins, and return to Levi’s Stadium for their next two games against the Arizona Cardinals and Jacksonville Jaguars.Jones started the game 0-of-4 but finished 26-of-39 for 279 yards with three touchdown passes. He didn’t throw any interceptions, but did fumble once, which led to a Saints touchdown.Star running back Christian McCaffrey led the 49ers’ ground game with 13 rushes for 55 yards. He also caught six passes for 52 yards and one touchdown reception.A week after tight end Jake Tonges recorded his first career NFL touchdown, it was Luke Farrell‘s turn, as he caught an 11-yard pass from Jones and beat a defender to get into the end zone.Wide receiver Jauan Jennings caught five passes for 89 yards and one touchdown reception, while second-year pro Ricky Pearsall had four receptions for 56 yards.
