Brock Purdy to miss practice with injury; 49ers QB ‘a long shot’ to play Week 2

SANTA CLARA — Quarterback Brock Purdy, who engineered the 49ers’ game-winning drive late in their Week 1 game at Seattle, could now miss multiple games, coach Kyle Shanahan said on Wednesday.Shanahan said it is a long shot that Purdy plays Sunday against the New Orleans Saints and he could miss multiple weeks due to a toe injury.Purdy sustained injuries to his toe and left shoulder in the 49ers’ 17-13 win at Seattle. The toe is the greater concern.Purdy sustained the toe injury in the second quarter, Shanahan said. Purdy played the remainder of the game with the injury.Purdy’s left shoulder injury occurred in the second quarter when Seahawks defensive lineman Jarran Reed hit him as he was throwing. Purdy landed on his non-throwing shoulder.He played every snap of the 49ers’ victory and threw the game-winning 4-yard touchdown pass to Jake Tonges with 1:34 remaining in the game.
