SANTA CLARA — As 49ers running backs coach Bobby Turner begins his 30th NFL season, he believes as if it cannot get much better than what he is experiencing right now.The teacher has been matched with Christian McCaffrey, a player he considers the ideal pupil.“I’m in the latter part of my career, and I worked a lifetime to be able to coach a player like Christian,” Turner, 76, told NBC Sports Bay Area on Sunday. “The learning never stops. And the reason I’m still doing this is because I enjoy teaching. That’s what I am. I’m a teacher.”McCaffrey was the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2023 when he rushed for 1,459 yards and 14 touchdowns to go along with 67 catches for 564 yards and seven touchdowns through the air.But he was relegated to just four games last season due to Achilles and knee injuries.McCaffrey, 29, is healthy and looks to be back to his old ways on and off the field this summer during training camp.“Christian works on the field, and he works off the field,” Turner said. “He never says, ‘I’ve...
