The NFL announced in a statement that several iconic former players—along with some active ones—will announce selections for all 32 teams during Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Among them is a name familiar to many San Francisco 49ers fans—former linebacker Julian Peterson.
San Francisco currently holds the following three Day 2 picks, scheduled for Friday, April 25:
- Round 2, Pick 43 overall
- Round 3, Pick 75 overall
- Round 3, Pick 100 overall
The NFL listed Peterson as one of seven "legends" who will be on-site to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 2000 NFL Draft class. Joining him are John Abraham, Shaun Alexander, Keith Bulluck, Dante Hall, T.J. Slaughter, and Dez White.
Peterson was selected 16th overall by the 49ers in the 2000 draft and quickly became a cornerstone of their defense. In six seasons with San Francisco, he earned two Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro honors while recording 402 tackles (35 for loss), 21.5 sacks, five interceptions, 40 passes defensed, seven forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and one touchdown.
He went on to sign with the Seattle Seahawks in 2006, earning three more Pro Bowl nods during his three seasons there. Peterson finished his career with two seasons as a member of the Detroit Lions.
According to Pro Football Reference, Peterson amassed 809 total tackles and 51.5 sacks over his 11-year NFL career.
