49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said last week that linebacker De'Vondre Campbell would not play for the team again after he refused to enter last Thursday's loss to the Rams, but that the team was working out how they would handle the situation. The answer appears to have come on Monday morning. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the 49ers will suspend Campbell for the final three games of the season. If the 49ers waived Campbell, he would have been able to land with another team to play out the rest of the year. By suspending him for conduct detrimental to the team, the 49ers will keep that from happening and they will also be able to avoid paying Campbell his final three paychecks of the year. Campbell signed a one-year contract with the 49ers this year so the two sides will go their separate ways once the season comes to an end.
